Explore Our Diamond Guide

To understand the various intricacies that determine the quality, design, size and value of a diamond, we have developed a comprehensive guide for you to not only understand diamonds a little more, but to appreciate their nature even more.

There are four key elements in grasping the nature of diamonds and those are: Colour, Cut, Carat and Clarity

COLOUR

Diamond colour follows a gradation starting from the letter ‘D’ (Colourless) which is the clearest of whites often known as ‘exceptionally’ white, down to ‘Z’ attributed to Light yellow.

‘D’ and ‘E’ are the purest of white, followed by F,G,H as rare white or white, I to M as slightly tinted, N to R as very yellow light, then S to Z as light yellow.

At Cervin Blanc we offer between D-M, which covers the highest in quality colour gradation

CUT

Diamonds can take many shapes, ranging from the rectangular ‘Ashoka cut’ sporting an elegant and period aesthetic, the perfectly rounded ‘brilliant cut’, the ‘pear cut’ (succeeding in its title’s promise) as a pear shaped diamond followed by a ‘cushion’ cut, ‘oval’ cut and ‘marquise’ cut.

CARAT

A diamonds size and weight are predetermined by its carat, for example, a 0.20ct diamond would be much lighter in weight than a 2.00ct diamond. The higher the carat, the higher the value and premium it becomes.

CLARITY

Throughout the production of a diamond, natural ‘inclusions’ can occur because of minerals and/or crystals which bind in them that lead to less light refractions through the diamond.

To determine the clarity of a diamond they are grouped with such acronyms as; VVSI1, VVS2, VS1, VS2, SI1, SI2, these six are amongst the highest clarity types diamonds.

VVS1 and VVS2 are near flawlessly clear, VS1/VS2 are flawless to the human eye, and SI1/SI2 are subject to visible inclusions at a 10x magnification.

At Cervin Blanc we offer jewelleries from SI to VVS quality, promising jewellery of the upper level in value and visual fidelity. We believe it is important to bring impressive diamond and jewellery quality to our customers but with affordability as a forefront.
